Teresa Lee Tsou

Dr. Walter Tsou has long been a trusted and leading voice on issues of Pennsylvania's public health, serving in many distinguished roles during his illustrious career such as Health Commissioner of Philadelphia, founding Medical Director of the Montgomery County Health Department, and President of the American Public Health Association.

And even in the midst of the many demands on his time, Dr. Tsou has also been a great friend to PASSi, generously sharing his guidance and encouragement with us through the years. When Dr. Tsou shared with us that his mother, Ms. Teresa Lee Tsou, had passed away, we shared our deepest condolences. Dr. Tsou also wanted to honor his mother's life as one that was well and truly lived to the fullest, and he and the family generously thought to include PASSi. In lieu of flowers, Dr. Tsou would like to direct donations in loving memory of Ms. Teresa Lee Tsou to PASSi. Here is Dr. Tsou in his own words:

Teresa Tsou was born in Shanghai China and lived to age 95. She was a housewife and mother to three children who worked hard to allow her to live in her home in Jenkintown, PA.  As she became more frail, she needed the help of a Chinese caregiver to help assist with eating and walking.  We were able to get help from PASSi initially that was immensely helpful.  In her memory, we want to assist PASSi in recruiting and training language competent caregivers so they can help the Asian elderly live in dignity in their homes. I thought contributions to PASSi would be a worthy cause.  My intention would be to use the money to help recruit and train future Asian home care workers, emphasizing quality.

PASSi has greatly appreciated Dr. Tsou's words of wisdom and encouragement through the years, and we are deeply honored that he and his family would include PASSi in the memory of Ms. Teresa Lee Tsou's life and legacy.
