Celebrating the Cambodian New Year!

Penn Asian Jubliee Center played host to a Cambodian New Year celebration and a good time was had by all! Much thanks to the Cambodian Association of Greater Philadelphia for reaching out to the community to invite them to attend our celebration!

The day included welcome remarks from PASSi CEO Im Ja Choi, brief remarks from PASSi Community Relations Officer Brad Baldia, a presentation on the Cambodian New Year by Susan Ear, Cambodian Daycare Program Aide at PASSi and closing remarks from Young Eun Park, PAJC Adult Daycare Director.

PASSi values and maintains the culture, traditions and holidays of the many diverse Asian ethnic groups it represents.

Say hello to our newest graduates!

PASSi CNA Class 30

Congratulations one and all! 

Eight students successfully completed the PASSi CNA requirements and were honored at the 30th graduation ceremony on March 27. They must all now pass their state boards on April 10. We wish them all the best of luck! 

In 2006, PASSi established a State licensed vocational school, Penn Asian Vocational Institute (PAVI) and has produced more than 1,300 graduates in the healthcare field including 357 Certified Nurse Assistants (CNA) and 808 Home Health Aides (HHA). HHA trainings are offered in 4 different Asian languages and English while CNA trainings are offered in English only. PAVI also has provided Vocational English as a Second Language (VESL) trainings for 134 students in collaboration with Penn State Abington, for those who need better vocational English skills for their jobs in the healthcare field.



Filipino Health and Information Fair coming next month

The Philadelphia Corporation for Aging (PCA) presents its annual Filipino Health and Information Fair. The event will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday April 21 at St. John Neumann Center, 1019 North 5th St., Philadelphia PA 19123.

PASSi will have its own table at the fair. Please stop by and say hello!

Presentation topics include a PCA overview and care at home segment, Immigration and resettlement services, Medicare savings program and updates, affordable housing and an Alzheimer's and dementia presentation. First HHA in-service session a huge success

PASSi Dr. Li Xiaobin

Dr. Li Xiaobin from Delaware County Memorial Hospital delivered a 3-day guest lecture at our first HHA in-service session of the year in February. The topic covered for the month was Seasonal Allergies and Elderly Care. Dr. Li has been an Internal Medicine Primary care physician in the Greater Philadelphia area for the past 20years, and has been and involved actively in elder care, including home-based skilled nursing care and skilled nursing facility care, as well as hospice and Alzheimer’s care.

Lunar New Year celebrated with Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation

PASSi adminstrators, staff and friends attended the Philadelphia Chinatown Development Corporation's (PCDC) Lunar New Year Banquet at Ocean City Restaurant on Feb. 23rd. Imja Choi, CEO of Penn Asian Senior Services, (seated at left) Christine Wong (PASSi Chinese Outreach Coordinator), Margaret Chin (PCDC Board Chair, Jimmy Chong (PASSi board member), seated, middle, and Brad Baldia (Community Relations Officer). Our table was very lucky that night, Imja and and several others in our group won baskets through their raffle.
